Turf calculator
Measure your lawn areas to get the square metres of turf to order, the number of rolls, and the underlay soil to go underneath.

How much turf do I need?
Measure each lawn area and multiply length by width to get square metres. Add 5% for trimming around straight edges, or up to 10% if you have curves, garden beds or lots of obstacles to cut around.
Turf is cut fresh to order, so it's worth getting your measurement right. Order a little extra rather than trying to patch a gap with a second delivery that won't match.
Laying turf the right way
- Remove old grass and weeds, then spread 75 to 100 mm of turf underlay and level it.
- Lay turf the day it arrives, in a brick pattern with the joins staggered and butted up tight.
- Roll it to press the roots into the underlay.
- Water deeply straight away, then keep it moist until the roots take hold.
These results are estimates to help you plan and order. Roll sizes, pallet sizes and underlay products vary between suppliers, so check with your turf farm or landscape supplier before you buy.
